Ingredients
2 oz gin
1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz simple syrup Made with Batey Turbinado Sugar
8 to 10 fresh basil leaves
Tonic Water
Ice
Preparation
Place the fresh basil leaves in a cocktail shaker.
Add the gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
Muddle the ingredients using a muddler This helps release the basil's essential oils and flavor.
Add some ice cubes. Make sure it's about halfway full of ice.
Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.
Strain the mixture into cocktail glass.
Top with Tonic Water and stir.
Garnish your Basil Smash with a sprig of fresh basil.
